However, for many parents, getting a child to wear a face mask may seem daunting. Kids are active and tend to be active – and wearing a mask can be a fix for anyone. But parents may be surprised to learn that their child is able to wear a mask – it may take a little practice

COVID-19 is spread mainly from person to person through respiratory drops from coughing, sneezing, or talking. The face mask serves as a barrier to help prevent the spread of these respiratory drops. Fabric face masks are very effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely used by humans in society.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone up to two years of age and age should wear a face mask, except for anyone who has a respiratory problem or is unable to remove their mask without assistance. Kids under 2 years of age should not wear a mask because of the risk of suffocation in this covid-19.

When should children wear a face mask during covid ?

Children 2 years and older should wear a face mask when in public and around people outside their home in covid-19. Face masks are especially important in situations where it is difficult to get used to the public, such as in a store. Children do not need to wear a mask in their homes when they are playing outside away from other people or during swimming.
If your child has a growing disability, mental health condition or emotional disturbance that makes it difficult to wear a face mask, it may be best to avoid crowded areas where masks are needed.

How can we help our kids to adjust to wearing a face mask?

Parents should explain to their children about all these steps.

Explain to your kids about the importance of Face Mask

Start by teaching your child why wearing a face mask is important to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Use age-appropriate language to talk to your child about coronavirus.
For younger children, stick to simple, expressive words. “Don’t say things like, ‘Wearing a mask helps us to be safe and keep others around us safe,’ or ‘Wearing a mask can help protect us and other germs,'” Faubel said. “It helps to be consistent in how you explain this and repeat this message over and over.”

For older children, you can share more information and refer to reliable resources such as the CDC with pictures showing how the masks can help prevent the virus from spreading
“Public health measures, such as wearing a mask, are important in controlling the spread of the virus,” said Drs. Kahn. “It is important to equip children with the knowledge that they can be safe and play a vital role in the fight against the epidemic.

Make a face mask during the playing

Children learn by playing, and this can also help them to process their feelings. Give your child a mask of their favorite pet, sew a matching doll mask or draw a mask for the characters in the coloring books. Get into the habit of putting a mask on their toy and consider having your child practice wearing a mask and a toy to make the situation more normal.
Listen to what your child has to say as he or she plays; is a great way for parents to learn how their child understands or feels about a particular situation.

Provide Them Colorful Mask as they wish

As faces become more familiar, it becomes easier to find friendly patterns and options. Look for colorful fabric masks or your child’s favorite character. You can also help yoit your child choose a design, so they feel part of the process.
“If possible, have a few different ways to cover your baby’s face, so that they can decide which mask they want to wear that day,” suggests Faubel. “This can help prevent any wars when you ask them to put on their mask.”
When looking for friendly mask options, be sure to choose a face mask that is easy to wash and that fits your child’s age.

Mask wearing Practice

Whenever you introduce something new to your child’s environment, it can help to practice and gradually make them comfortable with the change. Before exposing your child to a mask, make it a habit to wear a mask and wear it briefly near your home. You can look in the mirror to explain how to get in and start with just a few minutes.
