Here are the 10 steps on How to focus a microscope.

  • Place the microscope on a stable, flat surface. Turn on the microscope’s light source.
  • Place the prepared slide on the stage.
  • Begin with the lowest magnification objective lens (4x or 10x).
  • Lower the stage using the coarse adjustment knob without touching the slide.
  • Position your eyes comfortably and keep both open.
  • Slowly raise the stage until the specimen comes into view.
  • Switch to the fine adjustment knob for precise focusing.
  • Adjust the slide position to center the area of interest.
  • Rotate the nosepiece to switch to a higher magnification lens.
  • Observe the specimen, and document findings or capture images as needed.
